The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) delivers the RHI under the National Housing Strategy (NHS). It is part of the Government of Canada’s multi-billion-dollar investment to meet the urgent housing needs of vulnerable individuals.
In 2022, Takla Nation, in partnership with Wildland Development and Community Power secured funding through CMHC’s RHI to construct ten new homes in the community of Takla Landing. In the spring of 2023, Wildland and Community Power worked hand in hand on the construction of these homes and Ouellette Brothers completed these ten new homes for Takla individuals and families most in need. During this time, Wildland also finished four more houses under Section 95 funding from CMHC, totaling 14 beautiful homes in 2022/2023!
The new homes are the first of Takla’s 10/10 mandate to construct ten new homes per year for ten years. These homes will not be the last, as Takla was awarded RHI funding for a second year in a row! Wildland Development, in partnership with Community Power, is excited to deliver an additional ten units to community members by the summer of 2024, with hopes of the first members moving in by the end of December 2023.
